Extra-curricular Festivals / Tournaments

Festivals/ Tournaments

Festivals and tournaments are a great way of the children using the new skills they have learnt and interacting with children from other schools. It is beneficial to children’s physical, social and emotional development.

Through the Witchford School Sports Partnership, the school receives professional sports coaching (during and outside of curriculum time) and is invited to take part in festivals or tournaments against the other local primary schools.

In addition, some of the clubs run by school staff may be involved with tournaments/ festivals. For example, in the past the netball team and the country dancing club have taken part in events in Fordham and other local villages.

If your child has been selected to take part in a festival or tournament, you will be notified with all the arrangements in a letter. If the tournament is during school time, it is likely that transport will be provided by the school at little or no cost. If the tournament is outside of school hours, you may be asked to transport your child to the location of the tournament. In this instance the school will not accept responsibility for your child’s travel to or from the location.

This year (2009-2010) we have tournaments/ festivals scheduled for the following activities:
•    Cricket-Rounders
•    Football
•    Tag Rugby
•    Netball
•    Dance
