Autumn Term Newsletter class 6

Dear Parents

The new academic year has just started and I trust your child is settling well into the class routines.  Recent studies have revealed that effective primary schools have an expectation that parents will contribute towards a learning partnership.  So I hope you find this newsletter informative and useful.

Maths

This year with your help and support we hope to continue with the excellent results we have managed to achieve in the Y6 K.S.II Tests.

As well as basic number work we will be investigating shapes, so providing your child with their own protractor, compass and calculator would be advantageous.

The children will be tested regularly on their tables and may at times bring work home so please feel free to assist them with their learning.

Science

For science this term we will be revising and extending our knowledge in aspects of sound, light, earth and beyond, forces and motion and electricity.   There will also be a science day to cover the topic of Living Things and their Environment.

P.E.

Please make sure your child has shorts, T-shirt, trainers or plimsolls.  Tracksuits may be worn outside in cold weather.  All garments should be clearly named.

Class 6 have P.E. on the following days:

Tuesday p.m. and Wednesday p.m.

In the interest of a child’s safety, jewellery, including earrings, must not be worn during P.E./Games lessons.

Long hair should be tied back.
