Attendance
School education lays the vital foundations of a child’s life. Research clearly demonstrates the link between regular attendance and educational progress and attainment. Parents/carers and school staff should work in partnership to ensure children have full and equal access to all that school has to offer. Good school attendance is not only important for academic attainment but helps to maintain strong friends, create social and team values and helps pupils to feel the rhythm of a five days on, two days off working pattern. In line with the 1996 Education Act, the school expects children to attend school every day when it is in session. Parents and carers have a legal responsibility to ensure their child’s good attendance and as a school we encourage parents/carers to ensure that any problems which prevent this are identified and acted upon promptly.
