Black History Days
Just before half-term, Miss. Rankin organised a celebration of Black History month. Children and staff enjoyed listening to music from famous black artists such as Sam Cooke, learned African dance, researched different black role models and created artwork based on an African artist. It was great to see children learning 1-10 in Swahili. Writing poetry was one of the most favoured activities by the children as was the IT quiz that they had to create using software on the iPads.
Over the two days, the children were vertically grouped within their house teams and they very much enjoyed working with their siblings. Many parents / carers told us how pleased they were with this approach and so we intend to vertically group more regularly for special events.
