General Information

Fordham Primary School offers a friendly breakfast and after school club Monday to Friday run by Mr Archer.  All our staff are suitably trained and DBS checked.

At our After School Club, we promote the principles of play: that children's play is freely chosen and that through play children can explore - learning and developing as an individual. Our aim is to provide opportunities for the individual child to achieve his or her potential in a fun, friendly and caring environment. Your child's enjoyment, care and safety are our main concerns.  The After School Club is based in the main hall.  Occasionally it may be necessary to change the location to elsewhere in the school.  The children arrive at the Club and have the opportunity to have a snack and a drink, and then our activities start. There is one main activity per session that is staff led, which the children can choose to take part in.  Also during the session, there is a selection of board games and play materials such as Lego, Hama beads and a football table. Your child will also be free to use the i-pads and book library. The children have access to outside spaces and are supervised appropriately.  These include the trim trail, play area, playground and the field, where we play outdoor sports such as parachute games, football and other fun games. Please note the use of the outdoor space is weather dependant.  The club has themed activities to celebrate special events and holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Both regular and ad-hoc sessions can be booked through Arbor.  If you pay by Childcare Vouchers or use the Government Tax Scheme, please contact wraparound@fordham.cambs.sch.uk and the co-ordinator can update your child(ren)'s account(s).

If you require regular sessions, we kindly ask that you book each half term in advance to guarantee your child's place.

We are happy for ad-hoc sessions to be booked, please book these directly through Arbor.  All fees should be paid in advance including voucher and government payments. We ask that debt is not allowed to accrue as this is often difficult to pay off and may result in your child's place being withdrawn.  All bookings through the Arbor must be made at least 48 hours in advance of the session start time.  We understand that sometimes things happen and you may require a booking at shorter notice.  In these cases, please contact the school office or wraparound co-ordinator who will be able to assist.  With the safety of the children in mind, at times a place may be refused due to number of children already booked but this is rare as we have additional staff on standby.  A free taster session is also available should your child like to try.  Please note this is for breakfast club or until 4:15 only.  If you wish your child(ren) to stay later than 4:15 on a taster session, you will be charged the difference.

Please note that new Reception pupils cannot start either Breakfast or After School Clubs until the first full week they are in to allow for settling into their new routine. We do not allow bookings during their induction period.

Breakfast Club

Children can arrive from 7.45am when they will be offered a healthy breakfast with a choice of cereals, toast with a choice of spreads, fruit, yoghurts and fruit juice, milk or water to drink. After breakfast, children have a choice of activities set out, including games, drawing and colouring. We also do seasonal art and craft projects.

At 8.45 the children are taken to their classrooms for morning registration.

The cost is £5.50 per child per session with breakfast.

After School Club

After School Club 3.15-4.15pm £5.00 per session, including snacks

After School Club 3.15-5.15pm £9.00 per session, including a light tea

After School Club 3.15-5.45pm £13.00 per session, including a hot tea (available Monday to Thursday only)

Snacks will be available from 3.15. A healthy finger food tea will be served at 4.30pm. This will be sufficient to keep the children going but we do not recommend that it replaces an evening meal. A hot option will be served after 5.15pm for children booked until 5.45pm.

Drop Off and Collection

Both drop off and collection will be through the green gates to the right of the school building (between school and pre-school buildings).  Enter the first doors on the left and if there is nobody there, please ring the doorbell.  To ensure this is heard, press and hold for a few seconds.

Late Collections

If your child is picked up more than 10 minutes after the end of their booked session (not including the 5.45pm close) the later session charge will be added to their account.  We will give you leeway as a one-off per term but from the second time that charge will be incurred. If your child is booked until 5.45pm and you are late please contact the Koala Klub staff on 07718 934115.  Again, a one-off will be forgiven, from the second time a charge of £1/minute will be incurred to cover the staff's overtime costs.

Cancellations

Cancellations cannot be made by parents through Arbor, please contact wraparound@fordham.cambs.sch.uk for any sessions that need to be removed or changed.  Please note that we require a minimum of 48 hours' notice.  Any cancellations after this time will be charged at full rate.  Sessions missed due to illness, sport club attendance, or other reasons will not be refunded.
